Modern House

Remodeling this old Cape Cod-style house built in the late 1940s to a modern home with added amenities and luxury features. The property is located in Sherman Oaks, CA that has magnificent views of the San Fernando Valley. Double viewing decks with cable railings and living spaces with large glass pocketing doors and windows take advantage of the views. Outdoor sitting areas with fire pits, a water feature and a swimming pool add comfort and luxury to this house. Much of the original structure, roof lines are respected and kept and will receive new cladding and finishes. A minimalist approach using black standing seam metal roof, gray plaster, and wood cladding are used while softer neutral tones will be used on the interior spaces. The interior spaces are gutted and reconfigured to suit the family's contemporary lifestyle with an open plan layout and flexible, multi-use spaces. Emphasis on the indoor-outdoor living experience is created through the use of large pocketing glass doors. This is in the early stages of design and will be updated as the project progresses.
